Live Event Perm. Rep. of Greece in the EU & ALLILON with the Greek interns in the EU – Nov 20, 2024
The Association of Greek American Professional Women (AGAPW.org) in collaboration with ALLILONnet is pleased to invite you to the presentation of the book “The Greek Revolution and the Greek Diaspora in the United States” by Professor Maria Kaliambou.
Learn more about the event here.
The book examines the issue of historical consciousness in the Greek diaspora communities. It adds a new perspective on the Greek Revolution of 1821, including the distant Greeks in the United States and Canada.
The goal of the book is to explore the impact of the Greek Revolution as it affected the lives of Greek immigrants in North America. This is a book that has been embraced by Greek communities, taught in Greek schools, and promoted by local newspapers. At the same time, it serves as inspiration for literary, artistic, and theatrical productions.
The chapters cover a wide range of academic fields (history, literature, art history, ethnology, and education), offering both historical and contemporary reflections. Overall, the book succeeds in producing new knowledge about Greeks in the United States and Canada over the past 100 years.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. (New York time).
